Tuite Wins Amateur Tour 6

Mark Tuite from Killarney won this maiden Amateur Title when he won Event 6 over the weekend. Snooker & Billiards Ireland (SBI) held their sixth event on the 2024-2025 SBI Taom Amateur Snooker Tour in the SBI HQ in Carlow on the 19th – 20th April.

SBI were delighted to showcase our new addition to the HQ with Live Scoring on all 8 tables. This includes player’s photos on all the screens around the tables.

In the early rounds there were good performances by Greg Casey beating Adam Fitzgerald, Benny O Brien beating Steven O Reilly and Sean Fitzgerald beating Mick Dalton.

Action was played down on the Saturday to the semi-final stages. The Semi Finals were played on Sunday and featured the Number 1 seed Tommy O Donoghue playing Noel Landers and Number 2 seed Philip Brown played Mark Tuite.

On Sunday 20th April we were down to the Semi Final stages which saw number 1 seed Tommy O Donoghue face Noel Landers and Philip Browne went up against Mark Tuite

In the first Semi Final it was a one sided affair where Noel Landers hardly missed a ball in beating Tommy O Donoghue 4 frames to nil.

The second Semi Final it was Mark who took an early lead taking the first two frames but Philip didn’t let Mark have it all his own way before levelling the match at three frames each but it was Mark who ran out the eventual winner beating Philip by 4 frames to 3.

In the Final both player shared the first 4 frame to be level at 2 frames all. Noel took the fifth to take a slender lead before Mark levelled once again at 3 frames each. In the decider Mark got the first chance but couldn’t make it a match winner but when Noel got his chance he couldn’t make Mark pay. There was a couple of nervy shots by both players before Mark takes it on the final black to win his first Amateur event.
