Joe Wins SBI U-14 EVENT 1

12 yr old Joe Shannon from Longford who is having a great season won the first Snooker & Billiards Ireland (SBI) Under 14 ranking event of the season on Saturday 4th of November in the SBI Academy of Excellence in Carlow.

The top seed for this event was Joe Shannon and we had players from Longford, Dublin, Cork and Limerick playing in the first U-14 SBI ranking event of the season. TD and Referee on the day was Conor Doyle and he was very impressed with the talent on show and it promises to be a great Under 14 season ahead.

  • Semi Finals

In the Semi Finals we had two excellent matches with Joe Shannon beating John Sheehan from Crucible SC Cork 2-0 in a very good match and James Stewart O Reilly from Terry Rogers SC played another brilliant match with Cormac Crowe from St Johns Limerick and it was James coming out a 2-0 winner.

  • The final

The final was another superb match but it was former U-12 National Champion Joe playing great snooker who beat James who was playing in his first national ranking final 3-0 which was refereed by International Referee Conor Doyle.

Important Notice for Junior players

Snooker & Billiards Ireland SBI were recently notified by EBSA of their intention to move the age qualification date for all junior events effective from next (2023-2024) season. This decision was subsequently adopted by IBSF meaning that we will have to accept this change and move to different qualification windows for all international junior events.

For the forthcoming season, instead of the player age at 31/12/23 being the age qualification cut-off date, both EBSA & IBSF have now moved this to (31/08/24), 2024 being the year that their relevant events are being held.

U-14’s: a player who’s 14th birthday is on or before 31st August 2024 will not be able to enter the SBI under 14s events in the 2023 /24 season

Please be aware that Photo prof is required to be shown to the Tournament Director before you can play in any junior event

Please contact SBI on info@sbireland.ie , if you have questions or need help understanding the impact for you based on your date of birth.
