Day 2 was another superb day for our Irish juniors in the World IBSF U-21 Snooker Championship here in Mol in Belgium. Adam Fitzgerald had a superb win tonight over one of the pre-tournament favourites Mateusz Baranowski from Poland 4 frames to 2 which included a top break of 81. His Youghal team mate Noel Landers had earlier won 4 frames to 1 against Michael Hulsbosch from Belgium and the young Cork man had breaks of 101, 84, 68, and 48 in a superb display.
Shane Bates again impressed and won his match 4-2 against Cale Barrett from Australia. Aaron Holland played very good but was beaten today 4 frames to 1 by Hong Kong in a great match. Fergal Quinn also lost 3-4 to Niel Vincent from France in a very tight match but I know both players will bounce back tomorrow.
Charlie Sweeney and John Landers had the day off and all the Irish players again played great snooker as the standard is very high in this year’s event. The players are buzzing and looking forward to the challenges tomorrow and as National Coach I am very proud of them all.
