The 3rd ladies ranking event took place in q’s on Saturday 6th December. Michelle & Katie French again met in the quarter-final. Michelle was too strong today for daughter Katie and comfortably won the match 3-0. Maria Murray played Ronda Sheldreck in a closely matched contest. Maria won the 1st and took the 2nd when ronda fouled on the final black. Ronda fought back to win a close 3rd frame and looked set to tie the match at 2-2 when she had a pot on the final black into the centre pocket, but the black went in and out of the pocket and the white followed on into the hole to give Maria a 3-0 victory.
Claire Mill took on Catherine Fitzsimons in the other half. Claire raced into a 2-0 lead before Catherine got into her stride; from 18 down in the 3rd she potted blue to black to force a re-spot, which she potted to win the frame. Catherine won the next frame comfortably to force a final frame playoff; Claire started the frame well to take an early lead, which she held onto to win the frame and match by 3-2. Claire then went on to face Michelle Sherwin. Michelle won the match 3-0, but the score did not reflect the match as they were 3 very closely fought frames which could have gone either way.
French and Sherwin met in their 2nd successive final. French had a great opportunity to win the 1st frame, but didn’t capitalise on it and Sherwin eventually won the frame on the pink. It was a close 2nd frame aswell but again Sherwin also won this won. In the 3rd frame Sherwin had 2 early breaks of 19 + 26 to take a healthy lead which she advanced on throughout the frame to win it comfortably and take the frame and the match by 3-0 to win her 3rd title of the season
