Goggins Ready for the Crucible

WHEN the ROKIT World Senior Snooker Championship breaks off at the Crucible in Sheffield this coming Wednesday the pairings of four Irish men in the opening round brings up all sorts of emotions and possibilities.

Speaking to www.ribsa.ie Goggins said “It means everything to me and I am truly honoured, humbled and very lucky. All the hard work, travel for practice and all the weekends to England are worth it.

It will be a privilege to play a World Champion at the Crucible and I always learn something new when I am playing Ken, he is definitely in the Steve Davis mould as a player and I have huge respect for him. My hopes for the championships is that I  just enjoy it”.

www.ribsa.ie will speak to Mick Judge tomorrow as we keep a close on our boys in Sheffield, best of luck lads the whole Country is behind you both.

Goggins is ready

Wexford’s Rodney Goggins takes on the 1997 World professional champion Ken Doherty in the championships opening match at 1pm on Wednesday and a day later Dublin’s Mick Judge is up against the 1985 World professional champion Denis Taylor.

Goggins a two time tour professional himself in 2004/05 and 2007/09 will fear nobody as he goes about his business in his unique methodical style and a win for the Liam Mellows man is a definite possibility.

As for Mick Judge who is the current UK Senior Champion, well he knows the Pro game only too well after spending many years on the tour. Mick will not be intimidated in any shape or form and unless Taylor has been putting a serious amount of table time practice in over the past few weeks, he may have his work cut out to beat Judge who must fancy his chances in this one!

The tournament runs from Wednesday the 19th of August until Saturday the 22nd of August and the draw has some fantastic pairings
