National Coach PJ Nolan held a Coaching Zone in one of the newest registered RIBSA clubs in Ireland, The Ballyforan Snooker Club in Co Roscommon.
On the night of 5th of March, eight members from the club were in attendance for training with PJ to learn tips on how to improve their game.
World Snooker Official Coach PJ worked on the players Stance, Cue Action, Grip and developing a smoother delivery.
PJ recorded the players in action and explained the weak points in each players technique. All the players were coached and fine tuned with improvements in their stance and Cue Action delivery before being recorded again for the players to see the difference.
The Club also got some of PJ’s key practice routines for the players to practice and improve their potting and cue ball control.
PJ said he really enjoyed the night and it is great to see new clubs opening to promote the game all around the country. Kieran Kelly who organised the night was delighted with the training and said the players really enjoyed it and tips PJ gave should greatly improve the standard in our club.
Information on Ballyforan Snooker Club
Ballyforan Snooker Club is a new club which was declared open on 2nd march 2014. It is a one table club situated upstairs in the village hall in the small village of Ballyforan, Co. Roscommon.
The solid mahogany table was a kind donation to the village after the closure of pockets snooker club in Athlone. It is a super addition to the parish and is open to members over 16 years of age and it is proposed to run a snooker school for any kids over the age of 10 in order to promote the sport of snooker. The cost of holding a RIBSA session is €20.00 per hour coaching time plus €20.00 per hour travel time from Carlow plus tolls and parking.
If any RIBSA player you would like to travel to the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow you can avail of a 2hr session for €55.00 which includes Lights, DVD of the lesson and Technique profile.
