RIBSA Training Camp with PJ

RIBSA held their second of five key training Camps in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow with our National Coach PJ Nolan to prepare our players and teams for upcoming major International Events.

  • 2019 Celtic U-14 & U-16 Challenge in Carlow
  • 2019 World IBSF U-16 Championships in Russia
  • 2019 Home Internationals in Leeds

Today ten players attended the training camp with Alex Currid, Lewis Casserly, James O Connell, Clayton Creighon, Jack O Brien, Jack Newman, Adam Quinn, Aaron Smith and they were joined by experienced International Rodney Goggins plus Hungarian Junior Bulcsú Révész.

Hungarian 12 year old Bulcsú Révész who is coached by PJ is over for a 147academy training camp in his preparation for the World IBSF U-16 Championship which will be held in Russia in August.

All International players were invited to attend one or all days at €5.00 per day where PJ will hold sessions on Break-Building, Safety, Long Potting, Waistcoat fitting, Tips on Cues and Technique checks.

  • Training Programs

PJ held three different Challenges on the day using his Technical, Control and Match-Play programs and it was Lewis Casserly and Rodney Goggins who won the Technical Challenge with 26pts with Aaron Smith in second on 24pts and third was Bulcsú Révész and Alex Currid on 21pts.

In the Control Challenge it was the Hungarian Bulcsú Révész winning it with 40pts just pipping Rodney Goggins with 39pts in second with Jack Newman in third place with 34pts.

In the Match-Play league it was again 12-year-old Bulcsú who impressed again to win it with 6 wins from 9 matches with Rodney in second and Lewis Casserly in third place.

Up-Coming Camps with PJ

The Following Dates of upcoming RIBSA Camp 11am-4pm are:

  • Saturday 29th June
  • Saturday & Sunday 13th & 14th July
  • Saturday 27th July – Mind Session with leading mind coach Denis Coen

A special Camp one day Mental Training Camp will be held with leading Mind Coach Denis Coen on Saturday 27th of July and all RIBSA camps will be held in the Ivy Rooms in Carlow under the guidance of PJ Nolan.

  • Celtic Challenge News

All Celtic Challenge players are requested to wear White Shirt and Black pants, bring a bow-tie and RIBSA Waistcoat and be in the Ivy Rooms SC for 9.30am for photos. Action starts at 10am against Wales.

National Coach PJ Nolan was very impressed with the talent shown by our young juniors and he thanked Rodney Goggins and Bulcsú Révész for training with our RIBSA juniors today and he hoped all the players enjoyed the day.

All the players received a training booklet and a Mind Fitness booklet and RIBSA would like to thank the players for attending the camp, the Ivy Rooms SC Carlow for hosting the day and Team Manager Declan Quinn. We look forward to the next RIBSA training day on Saturday the 29th June in the Ivy Rooms SC.
