Four New Level 1 RIBSA Coaches Qualify

The Second and final day of RIBSA level 1 Coaching Ireland Education Course was held in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow on Sunday 7th of July.

The four new Level 1 RIBSA coaches who completed successfully the course are Stephen Walsh from Carrick on Suir, Murt Rossiter from Breakers SC Gorey, Finbarr Ruane from Crossguns SC Dublin and Sandra Bryan from Breakers SC Gorey who becomes the first lady Level 1 RIBSA Snooker Coach.

The two day training course was for Coaches who have already completed the Intro Level course and this course covered the skills in helping the coaches to start training players to a level 1 standard.

The next step for the four coaches is to attend a sport partnership 3 hr basic awareness course and a two night Children’s Officer Course organised by their local sports authority through the Sports Council.  All the coaches will finally need to be Garda vetted before being presented with their Level 1 Accreditation Certificate. Only then will they have their details on our Web Site as Level 1 Coaches.

The overall course was given by PJ Nolan on the ( Role Of Coaches + Playing Techniques ) and Neil Shanahan ( Rules of the Game ). The course ran from 10am to 6pm on both days.

Coaching Course Day Two

All four coaches coach on Day two, PJ guided each player through the agreed Coaching Ireland syllabus on the I.D.E.A. principle of Introducing the skill,  Demonstrating the skill, Explaining the key points in the skill and Attend to all the students with feedback on how they performed the skill.

Each coach verbally described all the various playing techniques while designing training routines before planning and conducting a training session for a snooker player.

PJ Nolan said he was delighted with the weekend and RIBSA have four superb new Level 1 coaches to make it fourteen coaches in total within RIBSA who have completed the Level 1 course to date.

The full course cost was €30.00 which included soup and sandwich on both days. All the coaches need to be paid up members of the Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association for the 2013 / 2014 season and membership forms were available on the day at €10.00.

RIBSA Intro Level Course

If you would like to attend the upcoming Intro level Coaching course on Sunday 11th of August please email pjcoach147@hotmail.com. This course cost is € 25.00 including soup and sandwich. All the coaches need to be paid up members of the Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association for the 2013 / 2014 season and membership forms will be available on the day at €10.00.

 This Course is for coaches who would like to start in the process of learning the basic skills to coach within their own club. Only two places available so get your name in as soon as possible for the 11th of August Course.
