Snooker & Billiards Ireland would like to announce the details of the 2024 Irish Amateur Snooker Championships, the first qualification stage will be held at the SBI HQ Academy of Excellence in Carlow on Saturday the 11th & 12th of May to find the 16 qualifiers.
PLEASE NOTE : Top Half SATURDAY 10am & 12 noon – Bottom Half SUNDAY 10.02am & 12.02pm
The 2024 Championship will be played to Last 4 on each day to Qualify 8 players for the Q-Finals
Snooker & Billiards Ireland have also announced that the deadline for entries for the 2024 Irish Amateur Snooker Championships will be Thursday 9th May @ 4pm.
This championship is open to all ages, genders and abilities to find the 2024 Irish Amateur Champion. The winner will follow in the footsteps of all our great players throughout the years. The defending Champion, Brendan O Donoghue from Nenagh who won his six title in 2023.
Qualifying Weekend
The top half of the draw will be played on the Saturday and the bottom half will be played on the Sunday to qualify the 16 players for the SBI Finals weekend.
* Players cannot choose to play a Saturday or Sunday as the draw is done automatically on the system with match times and displayed on the web site *
The finals weekend will feature the last 16 round to the final plus the National Billiards Finals on the weekend of 17th – 19th May in the SBI HQ Academy of Excellence in Carlow.
Prize Fund
SBI announced that a €2,000 prize fund will be up for grabs for this year’s National Amateur Snooker Championships.

- Q-Finalists 4 x € 75
- High Break € 100
Total Prize Fund € 2,000
Entry Fees
The cost of entry will be the following:
- €35.00 for 21 and over
- €20.00 for players under 21
- €1 for players under 16 and Lady players
Only SBI members can enter and play in SBI tournaments. One-day Registration for non-members is available at €10.00 if you are not already a SBI member.
2024 Format
All qualifying matches are the best of 7 frames
- Last 16 – Friday – 6pm
- Q-Final – Saturday – 1pm
- Semi Final – Saturday 6pm
- Final – Sunday – 10am (6frames) & restart at 2pm
Presentations
Presentations of all the SBI National Championships that have been played and Award winners will also be made over the weekend. All winners will be presented with their trophies and have an official photoshoot after the final of the Amateur Snooker Championships in the HQ.

Dress Code
The dress code for the 2024 SBI National Championship is full dress:
- NO POLO SHIRTS
- Dark Shoes (no runners)
- Dark one coloured trousers (no jeans)
- One coloured shirt buttoned at the wrist and waistcoat.
- Waistcoats must be worn for all matches.
- National Waistcoats are not permissible
- Bowties are also required for the SBI Championships weekend matches.
