The final of the 2014 Leinster Club Snooker Championships in the Ivy Rooms Carlow will be between Kilkenny and last years winners Q Club Wicklow. The standard of snooker in the event was excellent over the weekend with all the Clubs wanting to qualify for the All Ireland in Killarney which included a fantastic 145 break by Michael Judge.
Group Results
Last years winners Q Club Wicklow “A” are again the team to beat having qualified with relative ease from their group, winning all their matches 3 – 0. They faced Newbridge CYMS in the quarters. A new team to the event Potters of Drogheda “A” topped group B and faced Edenderry S C in the second of the early last 8.
The two remaining quarter-finals were Kilkenny S C winners of group C took on local rivals Potters of Carlow while 147 Wexford “A” who won group D played Potters Drogheda “B”. An excellent performance by the Drogheda club to qualify both their teams for the All Irelands in Killarney.
Knock Out Results
In the Q-Finals Q Club Wicklow beat Newbridge CYMS 3-0, Potters Drogheda A beat Edenderry SC 3-1, Kilkenny beat Potters Carlow 3-0 and Wexford beat Potters Drogheda B 3-1.
In the Semi Final Q Club Wicklow beat Potters Drogheda 3- 1 and Kilkenny beat Wexford 3-2 and it was Potters Carlow who won the 5th place play off when they beat Newbridge CYMS.
