The RIBSA Under 14 National Snooker Championship began this morning in Douglas Snooker Club in Cork featuring all the top young players from all around the country.
After a great days play from all the young stars the 2013 RIBSA National Under 14 final will be between Fergal Quinn from Tyrone and Darragh Cusack from Dublin on the 26th of May in the Ivy Rooms SC in Carlow
With all the results down to final completed it will 10 Year old Corey Ramsbottom who is assured of number 1 spot for 2012 / 2013 in the Under 14 rankings regardless if Cusack or Quinn win the national title.
Oisin Bateman from Kilkenny became the youngest competitor in a National Championship today when he made his debut at 6 years old in Cork, His brother Luke who is 10 years old is also in the event. Oisin and Luke are the younger brothers of International player Stephen and along with his dad James Bateman I think Kilkenny will have a future All Ireland Club team for Killarney in the making.
Once again The Douglas Snooker Club Cork have everything planned to the last detail with the tables in superb condition. Karl and Martin Busteed and Evan O Leary are doing a superb job in making the event a big success.
In the Plate Final Scott O Brien from Nenagh beat 8 year old Sean Walsh from the Crucible SC Cork 2 frames to one in a great final.
In the Semi Final Fergal Quinn played great snooker to beat Ronan Whyte 3 frames to 2 to reach the National final while Noel Landers from Youghal CYMS played a superb match against Darragh Cusack, but it was Cusack who took the match 3 frames to 2 to reach his first National Final.
