On behalf of EBSA Board, please see attached information about the 2023 World Matchplay Billiards Championships and the Irish Open that are being held in the SBI HQ in Carlow Ireland in May 2023. The Championships are sanctioned by EBSA.
Each country is allowed to nominate up to 8 players, plus 1 junior plus 1 woman, for the World Matchplay. Any number of players can be nominated for the Irish Open. Nomination of players is subject to the entry limits not being exceeded for both events. Entries to the World Matchplay are being capped at a maximum of 50 players. The Irish Open is capped at 60 players. NGB’s are advised to register their players without delay.
Should you have any billiards referees that would be interested in participating in the event, their details should be passed on to WBL who will make the selection of referees. IMPORTANT: Any international referee wishing to have an examination during this event, must follow the usual process of getting their NGB to write to EBSA General Secretary to request the examination. Where approval of the examination is not granted by EBSA in advance of the examination taking place, the result of the examination can not be recognised.
Further details and information is contained within the attached document. If you require any further information please contact Chris Coumbe chris.coumbe@world-billiards.com
Please note that the closing date for entries is 22nd April 2023.
I do hope you will agree that this provides an excellent opportunity for our billiards players to compete.
Kind regards
Simon Smith
