Darren Delaney won the 2023 National Challenge Championship in the New Institute Snooker Club in Nenagh on Tuesday the 16th of May. In the final Darren played Clubmate Dave Garrett in a great final.
Club Sec Brendan O Donoghue was on hand to present Darren with his trophy and Pepetual Cup plus High Break prize. Dave finishes No.1 for the season after a great season.
On Saturday 13th of May SBI held the National Challenge Championship in the New Institute Snooker Club in Nenagh and after a great day of snooker we had an all Nenagh final which was played on Tuesday 16th of May in the New Institute snooker club at 8pm
There was fierce competition all day especially when it came to the high break when Gavin Dolan equalled the the season high break of 61 before Martin Kelly knocked in a 63 and now holds not only the Championship high break but the Season high break also and with the final still the play who knows what will happen next.
Quarter Finals
- Dave Garrett 3-0 Michael Meehan
- Chris Dunleavy 2-3 Vernon Walker
- Gavin Dolan 2-3 Martin Kelly
- Darren Delaney 3-0 Dylan Troy
The match of the quarter final was between Gavin Dolan and Matin Kelly where Gavin came from to 2 nil down to force a decider in which Martin eventually won.
Semi Finals
- Dave Garrett 3-0 Vernon Walker
- Martin Kelly 1-3 Darren Delaney
Two very good semi finals her which had 3 players from Nenagh to set up an all Nenagh final.
Final
