Ronan McGuirk from R&R SC won his first National title when he won the 2023 SBI National Under 18 Snooker Championship final in SBI HQ in Carlow on the 30th of April. In the final he beat Irish number 1 James O Connell from Cork in a great final 3 frames to 2 to claim the title.
The match was streamed live around the world and Ronan was presented with his cup and trophy by SBI President Jim Leacy before the SBI AGM.
This Championship began on Saturday the 7th of March when SBI held the National Under 18 Snooker Championships in SBI HQ in Carlow. After a great day of good snooker with some fine safety and potting James beat David Farrelly from Celbridge SC and Ronan beat Aaron Smith from Potters SC in two good semi finals matches to set up what promises to be a great National final with both finalists fresh from representing Ireland in the U18 & U21 European Championships in Malta.

National Coach PJ Nolan was the TD on the day and he was very impressed with the talent on show. The tournament High Break went to Aaron Smith with 50.
