On Saturday the 18th of February SBI held the fourth Under 18 event of the season in SBI HQ. The No.1 seed James O’ Connell from Cork made it to four finals in a row but it was Aaron Smith from Potters SC who won the final against James in a great final 3 frames to 0 in a high quality match.
Fresh from representing Ireland in the U18 & U21 European Championships James O Connell came through to the final with wins over Jamie Mc Carthy & Charlie Cronin. Aaron Smith with wins over Denny Bookie, Joe Shannon & Ronan Mc Guirk, reached the final from the other side of the draw.
The final was well contested with some fine safety and potting displayed by both Aaron & James.
Tournament High Break was 47 by Aaron Smith another great break was 45 by David Farrelly from Celbridge SC. SBI would like to thank all the players for entering and to TD and Referee John Tobin for making it a great day of junior Irish snooker.
Finally big congratulations to Aaron on the victory and it promises to be a great exciting finish to the Irish U-18 Snooker season with the National Championships on 8th of April in the HQ in Carlow.
The players must remember the closing date for all SBI events is 1pm on the Thursday before the event. The Draw will be done automatically on the system with match times and displayed on the web site.
