Snooker & Billiards Ireland would like to announce the details of the 2023 Irish Amateur Snooker Championships, the first qualification stage will be held at the SBI HQ Academy of Excellence in Carlow on Saturday the 22nd and Sunday 23rd of April to find the 16 qualifiers.
Snooker & Billiards Ireland have also announced that the deadline for entries for the 2023 Irish Amateur Snooker Championships will be Thursday 20th of April @ 1pm.
This championship is open to all ages, genders and abilities to find the 2023 Irish Amateur Champion. The winner will follow in the footsteps of all our great players throughout the years. The defending Champion, Brendan O Donoghue from Nenagh who won his fifth title in 2022.
Qualifying Weekend
The top half of the draw will be played on the Saturday 22nd and the bottom half will be played on the Sunday 23rd of April to qualify the 16 players for the SBI Finals weekend.
* Players cannot choose to play a Saturday or Sunday as the draw is done automatically on the system with match times and displayed on the web site *
The finals weekend will feature the last 16 round to the final plus the National Billiards Finals on Saturday / Sunday the 29th & 30th of April in the SBI HQ Academy of Excellence in Carlow.
The SBI AGM will also be held on Sunday the 30th of April at 12.30pm – 2.30pm in the SBI HQ in Carlow for our members to attend.
Prize Fund
SBI announced that a €1800 prize fund will be up for grabs for this year’s National Amateur Snooker Championships.
- Winner € 750
- R-Up € 350
- Semi Finalists 4 x € 150
- Q-Finalists 4 x € 75
- High Break € 100
Total Prize Fund € 1800
Entry Fees
The cost of entry will be the following:
- €35.00 for 21 and over
- €20.00 for players under 21
- €7 for players under 16 and Lady players
Only SBI members can enter and play in SBI tournaments. One-day Registration for non-members is available at €10.00 if you are not already a SBI member.
2023 Format
All qualifying matches are the best of 7 frames on the 22nd – 23rd April.
- Last 16 – Best of 7 – Saturday 29th – 10am
- Q-Final – Best of 7 – Saturday 29th – 2pm
- Semi Final – Best of 11 – Saturday 29th – 6pm
- Final – Best of 13 – Sunday 30th – 10am (5frames) & restart at 3pm
- * SBI AGM * 12.30 – 2.30pm
Presentations
Presentations of all the SBI National Championships that have been played and Award winners will also be made over the weekend. All winners will be presented with their trophies and have an official photoshoot after the final of the Amateur Snooker Championships on 30th April in the HQ.
Dress Code
The dress code for the 2023 SBI National Championship is full dress:
- NO POLO SHIRTS
- Dark Shoes (no runners)
- Dark one coloured trousers (no jeans)
- One coloured shirt buttoned at the wrist and waistcoat.
- Waistcoats must be worn for all matches.
- National Waistcoats are not permissible
- Bowties are also required for the SBI Championships weekend matches.
