The second national intermediate Tournament was held last Saturday in the Crucible club in Cork. We had a good entry of 21 players. Some matches of note in the last 16 were Mark Gleeson v Jay Chopra. Mark ran out a 3-0 winner. Many tough this was going to be close but Mark was just to good on the day.
There was an all Cork clash between Michael O Sullivan from the crucible and James O Connell from Douglas. On this occasion Michael ran out a comfortable 3-0 winner. Probably the match of the round was the meeting of Alex Currid and Alan O Connor. This was a tight affair which went down to the colours in the deciding frame where Alex prevailed.
Q final line up.
Sean Walsh 3-2 Brendan O Brien
Patrick Brady 1-3 Johnathan Grant.
Alex Currid 3-1 Tommy O Donoghue

Final.

High break 63 shared by Sean Walsh and Alex Currid.
The pick of the Quarter finals was definitely between Sean Walsh and Bennie O Brien. A match that went one way then the other was finally decided on the colours with Sean finally coming through.
2 great semis saw Johnathan and Alex coming through with the final being a very tight affair with Johnathan coming out on top.
A very big thank you to the Crucible Snooker club for the excellent playing conditions, to Brian Walsh for looking after the tables Referee Maurice Walsh and to Stewart for his help in the morning. He knows what I’m talking about.
