Snooker & Billiards Ireland held an International Snooker Training weekend on Saturday & Sunday the 23rd & 24th of July to prepare our players for the up coming Home Internationals in Leeds & World Junior IBSF Championships in Romania in the SBI HQ Carlow.
Our National Coach PJ Nolan held sessions on both days from 11am-4pm on Break-Building, Safety, Long Potting. The players also had their Technique checked using all the latest Coaching Aids like the Str8aim G-5, Master Doctor, Blade Cue, Chris Henry Balls and EBSA Coaching Balls to develop their Approach, Stance, Cue Action, Grip, Address Position, Aiming and Delivery.
This camp was to focus on two major International events:
- The Home Internationals Seniors, Men, Under 21 and Under 16’s in the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds in August.
- The IBSF World Under 16, U-18, & u-21 Snooker Championships in Romania in August.
On Day 1 Saturday 23rd of July, it was the current U-12 Champion Joe Shannon from Longford who won the long potting event, Aaron Smith was in great form in winning the Cue Ball Control and Break-Building events which included a 131 break on the Shovel Break. In the final of the Match-Play it was Richie Total who came out the winner.
SBI National Coach PJ Nolan was very impressed with the commitment of the players on the both days. The players recieved a specific training plan with drills and mental training booklet to help them prior and during the upcoming International event.
On Day 2 Sunday 24th of July, it was Dylan Rees who was in incredible form when he won the long potting event with Stephen Walsh in second place, In Cue Ball Control event it was again Dylan winning it with Stephen Walsh in second place. In the Break-Building event was Adam Halnon who won it with Tom O Driscoll and Dylan Rees in second place.
The SBI academy was the perfect venue for this camp with top class tables and the players were delighted with the planning of the full weekend of events. SBI would like to thank all the players and wish them good in the International events next month.
