SBI hold 3rd Junior Developmental Day in Nenagh

Snooker & Billiards Ireland held their third National Junior Snooker Developmental Day of the season on Saturday the 28th of May in the Nenagh Social & Snooker Club in Co Tipperary. Junior players were invited to attend the day with our Irish National Coach PJ Nolan and some of his team of SBI Coaches to learn some skills of the game.

Nenagh Social & Snooker Club have held a successful Junior Program in 2022. The club have four WPBSA Coaches within their club including the current Irish Amateur Champion Brendan O Donoghue who was on hand today to assist the coaching.

Over the years SBI have held Junior Developmental days to encourage more juniors to play our beautiful sport today was another great day with players training from 11am to 4pm.

Training Aids

The latest training aids were used to enhance the learning for the players, like the Blade Cue, Master Doctor, Str8aim G-5 & SA-2, Chris Henry Balls, Academy laser, EBSA Coaching Balls to help to get him on the line of aim and develop a smoother stroke in his delivery.

The new Str8aim G-5 was used for the first time today. This new and improved training aid was used by the players including Irish Number 1 and National Champion Brendan O Donoghue was he was very impressed with the feedback this aid gives during your stroke.

The players were shown how to develop good fundamentals in the Stance, Grip, Cue Action, Cue Ball Control and learn Basic Potting Skills.

The day will begin with the players playing some snooker routines with PJ and the SBI coaches giving some tips and advice to the players. The players were then shown how to control the cue ball and then try some specific practice routines.

All the junior players received a medal to remember the day. SBI would like to thank Nenagh Social & Snooker Club and Coaches Tony Seymour, Brendan O Donoghue and Mark Walsh for hosting the day and finally a big well done to all the players who attended the day.

SBI will be holding more Junior Developmental days during the new season and keep an eye on the web site for more details on our upcoming SBI Summer Camp in the HQ in Carlow in June.
