Snooker & Billiards Ireland have just announced the deadline for entries for the 2022 Irish Amateur Snooker Championships will be extended until Friday 13th May @ 1pm.
Snooker & Billiards Ireland announced the details of the 2022 Irish Amateur Snooker Championships with this years qualification in the SBI HQ Academy of Excellence in Carlow on Saturday the 14th and Sunday 15th of May to find the 16 qualifiers.
This championship is open to all ages, genders and abilities to find the 2022 Irish Amateur Champion who will follow in the footsteps of the legends from our sport throughout the years. The defending Champion is Brendan O Donoghue from Nenagh who won the title in 2021.
The top half of the draw will be played on the Saturday 14th and the bottom half will be played on the Sunday 15th to qualify the 16 players for the SBI Finals weekend.
FINALS WEEKEND
The finals weekend will feature the last 16 to the final plus the Billiards Finals on Saturday / Sunday the 21st & 22nd of May in the SBI HQ Academy of Excellence in Carlow.
Prize Fund
SBI also announced that a €1800 prize fund will be up for grabs for this year’s National Amateur Snooker Championships.

- R-Up € 350
- Semi Finalists 4 x € 150
- Q-Finalists 4 x € 75
- High Break € 100
Total Prize Fund € 1800
Closing Dates
The closing date for the championship will now be 1pm on Friday 13th May. The Draw will be then done automatically on the system with match times and displayed on the web site.
Entry Fees
The cost of entry will be the following:
- €32.00 for 21 and over
- €15.00 for players under 21
- €7 for players under 16
Only SBI members can enter and play in SBI tournaments. One-day Registration for non-members is available at €7.00 if you are not already a SBI member.
2022 Format
All qualifying matches are the best of 7 frames.
- Last 16 – Best of 7 – Saturday 10am
- Q-Final – Best of 7 – Saturday 2pm
- Semi Final – Best of 11 – Sunday 6pm
- Final – Best of 13 – Sunday 11am
Presentations
All presentations of all the SBI National Championships will also made over that weekend. All winners will be presented with their perpetual cup and trophies and have an official photoshoot.
Everyone will be emailed with a date and time to be in the HQ in Carlow.
Dress Code
The dress code for all SBI National Championship is full dress:
- NO POLO SHIRTS
- Dark Shoes (no runners)
- Dark one coloured trousers (no jeans)
- One coloured shirt buttoned at the wrist and waistcoat.
- Waistcoats must be worn for all matches.
- National Waistcoats are not permissible
- Bowties are also required for the SBI Championships weekend and all matches.
