Defending Champion and No.1 seed Leone Crowley from Cork won the SBI National U-18 Championships on the 30th of April in the Snooker & Billiards Ireland HQ Academy of Excellence in Carlow
In the final Leone beat Alex Currid from Wexford in a great final, frame one Alex made a brilliant 51 break but back came the young cork man to win the next frame to level the match at 1-1. Leone then won the next two frames to lift another Irish title in style for this young star of the future from Cork city 3 frames to 1.
Semi Finals
In the semi-finals Leone beat Ryan McGuirk from R&R 3 frames to 1 and Alex beat Adam Halnon from St Pats Gorey 3 frames to 2 in two exciting matches.
High Breaks
The high break of the event was a 52 by Alex Currid and SBI would like to thank all the players and Referee Steven Foster for referring the semi-final and final.
International Selection
Leone Crowley, Alex Currid, Adam Halnon and Ryan McGuirk have now qualified for the World IBSF U-18’s in Romania in August and the Celtic Challenge in July after reaching the semi-finals today.
