The first Snooker & Billiards Ireland Senior Tour event of the season was played in the SBI HQ in Carlow on Sunday 20th of February but it was only finished today the 25th of March with John Torpey from ST John’s Limerick beating John Farrell from Fairview 3 frames to nil in a good final which was refereed by Paddy Hanifin.
The event was open to any person of 40 years of age and over and we had a record of 45 entries in the event. After a long days play which didn’t finish till after 11pm, the event was played now down to the semi-finals stages and the semis were postponed to a later date which was today Friday 25th of March in the SBI HQ.
In the early round there were a number of outstanding performances which included Thomas Hickey beating Frank Sarsfield, Tommy O Donoghue beating John O Sullivan, and Shane Gorman beating Brian McPhee.
The high break went to Tommy O Donoghue with a 71 break.
