Snooker & Billiards Ireland organised a Snooker Training Workshop for the Kells Community Mental Health Team. The event took place in the Convent Community Centre Athboy, Co. Meath throughout February and March.
Local man and SBI Treasurer John Tobin who is a qualified SBI Coach led the group on the 6-day introduction to snooker.
Áine Clarke, An Táin Occupational Therapist said ” it’s been an overwhelming success” and that all the service users really enjoyed the workshop, it was very beneficial to everyone in the group.
Aine thanked SBI, John and Terry Donegan, Sports Inclusion & Disability officer with Meath Local Sports Partnership also the Athboy centre for their assistance in holding the workshop.
National & WPBSA Professional Coach PJ Nolan attended the final day in Athboy to give a masterclass on techniques to develop their stance, grip and their bridge to help them to strike the ball better.
PJ presented all the participant’s, organiser and lead coach with a certificate of attendance and a snooker medal to commemorate the first ever collaboration between the HSE Meath Sports partnership & SBI work shop.
SBI are hoping to roll out this initiative in partnership with the HSE around the country, led by our team of qualified Snooker & Billiard Coaches in the coming months.
