Snooker & Billiards Ireland held the qualification process for SBI Players for the 2021 IBSF World Snooker Championships on Sunday the 30th of January in the SBI HQ in Carlow. Ens of the day it was Noel Landers and Mark Tuite who will fly the Irish Flag in Doha Qatar in March.
All players needed their passport so Jim Leacy could begin the Travel and Visa Requirements process for the two qualifiers.
The event was played in groups and it was Rodney Goggins, Mark Tuite, Noel Landers and Mark Walsh who battled it out to qualify from their groups. In the first decider it was Noel Landers who beat Rodney Goggins to book his spot, in the other it was Mark Tuite who came out on top against Mark Walsh. SBI wish both players good luck in Qatar.

IBSF Championships
The 2021 IBSF World Snooker Championships (Women, Men and Under 21) that will be held in Doha – Qatar during the period from 1st to 11th of March 2022, full information are contained in the attached document below.

SBI Qualifier
SBI have announced that 2 Men players will qualify for this Amateur Championship in Qatar and SBI will run a qualifying event to select the Irish players on the 30th of January in Carlow.
Under 21 Players
For the Under 21 event players must be U-21 on 31st December 2021 and any under 21 player interseted should contact info@sbireland.ie before noon on the 28th of January 2022.
Covid-19
“In keeping with SBI’s policy of following all government and Sport Ireland advice with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic, in the light of the recent changes in protocol, a Certificate of Vaccination or a Certificate of Recovery are no longer required as a criterion of entering SBI competitions.”

Entry Fee
The entry is €30.00 and can be paid on the day to the TD.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be no prize money for this event as €25.00 per entry will go towards players who will travel to Qatar and €5.00 per player for hosting the event.
Dress Code
- The dress code for the SBI Qualifier is:
- Dark Shoes (no runners)
- Dark one coloured trousers (no jeans)
- One coloured shirt buttoned at the wrist and waistcoat.
- Waistcoats must be worn for all matches.
- National Waistcoats are not permissible
- Or Official SBI Polo Shirt on sale in Academy @€25.00
Format
Depending on the numbers the format will be decided on knock out or groups format on the day by SBI.
