SBI Under 18 – EBSA Qualifying Groups

Snooker & Billiards Ireland will hold the qualification process for SBI Under 18 Players for the 2022 U-18 European Championships on Sunday 2nd January in the SBI HQ in Carlow. The draw has been made with two groups of 4 players. The TD will be our National Coach PJ Nolan.

2022 EBSA Championships

The European Championship will be in held in Lublin, Poland from 1st to 14th April 2022.  Full information and details on the U-16, U-18, U-21 and Mixed Championships are contained in the attached document below.

SBI U-18 Qualifier

SBI have announced that 5 players will qualify for this U-18 Championship in Poland and SBI will run a qualifying event to select the Irish players on the 2nd of January.

SBI have announced that the current 2021 National U-18 Snooker Champion Leone Crowley from Cork will receive an automatic spot and the four other qualifying spots for the 2022 Championship in Poland will go to the four semi-finalists on the day.

The players for the Under 18’s qualifier must be U-18 on 31st December 2021.

FORMAT – ALL MATCHES WILL BE THE BEST OF 5 FRAMES

QUALFYING CRITERA  – 1. MATCHES WON – 2. FRAME DIFFERENCE – 3. HEAD TO HEAD to decide qualifers – 2 Qualify from each group for Poland.

PLAYERS CHECK IN @ 10.30AM – COVID 19 CHECKS – PLAYERS WARM UP

MATCH ORDER – 1v4 – 2v3 at 11am, Next 1v3 – 2v4 and then 1v2 – 3v4

Covid-19 Restrictions

Snooker & Billiards Ireland (SBI) would like to remind all members in relation to all tournaments that every player, and official must be fully vaccinated against Covid 19 with no exception.

This is the policy of Snooker & Billiards at this current moment in time, but SBI will constantly monitoring the situation and should the rules change with direction from Sport Ireland and the Government, SBI will review the situation.

Proof of vaccination will be needed to be shown to the Tournament Director to gain access into the venue and there will be tracing completed at all events. This must include players, officials and parents/guardians.

First Junior Event

This will be the first Junior event in our new home of Irish Snooker and it promises to be an exciting event from our talented players. SBI wish all the players good luck in the event

If any U-18 player would like to enter, they should text in their entry to 0852428701 before 6pm on the 1st of January 2022.

Entry Fee

The entry is €15.00 and can be paid on the day to the TD.

The Draw

The draw will be done at 10.30am in the SBI HQ. The TD on the day will be our National Coach PJ Nolan. The action will begin at 11am.

Dress Code

  • The dress code for the SBI Qualifier is:
  • Dark Shoes (no runners)
  • Dark one coloured trousers (no jeans)
  • One coloured shirt buttoned at the wrist and waistcoat.
  • Waistcoats must be worn for all matches.
  • National Waistcoats are not permissible

Format

Depending on numbers the format will be decided on knock out or groups format on the day by SBI.
