The National Senior Billiards Long-up Championship took place on Sunday 14th November in Celbridge Snooker Club. 10 players took part and the finalists for the 19th December are veterans Aidan Murray and Larry Drennan after a long day’s play.
There was two pre-lim games to start the day as John Kehoe edged out Robert McCrum and Lloyd Myers won a tight contest against Eugene Hughes who had the consolation of producing a 65 break before falling short by a margin of 26 points.
Aidan Murray booked his place in the final with wins over Lloyd Myers before overcoming Anthony O’ Flaherty in the semi-final. Larry Drennan made it to the final with convincing wins over Tommy Murphy and Joe Doheny to prove he is as strong as ever and competitive at the top level who will turn 80 in December.
