Adrian Morrissey from Liam Mellows Snooker Club in Wexford is the new 2021 SBI National Challenge Snooker Champion when he won the title in Tralee Snooker club in County Kerry on 9th of October. In the final he beat local player Jamie Moriarty 3-1 in a superb final.
The final was refereed by International referee Pat Mooney and TD on the day was Tom O Driscoll ” Tom said the standard of play was fantastic on the day. This National Championship was created for players who have not represented their country at over 16 international level. Today showed there are a lot of talent in all the tiers within SBI and SBI would like to thank Tommy Dowling and everyone at Tralee Snooker Club for hosting a brilliant event in a great snooker club.
In both high quality semi finals Adrian Morrissey beat his team mate Adrian Doran in one semi and in the other Jamie Moriarty beat his team mate Nathan O Brien in the other to set up the final. Adrian showed his experience in the final to claim his prestigious National Title for the Wexford man. Jamie should be very proud of his performance also and SBI hope to see him play in more events in the future.

The entry fee for the Challenge Championship is set at Over 21 yrs old is €25.00 plus membership and Under 21 yrs old is €15.00 plus membership. The TD of the event will Tom O Driscoll. All matches will be the best of 5 frames knock out format including the final
Challenge Guidelines & Criteria
Challenge events gives the opportunity to all the club players around Ireland who dream of winning a National Title. SBI believe Challenge events will be a big success in a stepping stone in helping grow the game around the clubs. Paddy Brady from Sligo is the defending Champion and only players who meet the criteria below will be allowed to play in the zones.
- Open to all SBI members who have never represented RIBSA/SBI in any International event over 16yrs in any category or gender.
- Former National Champions in any level over 16yrs
- Any WPBSA member are excluded for the Challenge Tour.
Any player who enters and does not meet the criteria will be removed from the Championships and have his Entry fee returned.
Dress Code
All Championships are played in full dress, Pants, Long Sleeve Short, Waistcoat and Shoes. Bow-Ties are required for Final.
Enter On Line
For all SBI events the players have to be a member and be registered for this season. When you registered, you created a username and password, you must do this before you will be allowed in to enter an event. Any issues with entering they should email info@sbireland.ie.
Memberships
Membership can be purchased on line, over 21 yrs old membership is €17.00. 16-20 yrs old is €12.00 and Under 16 is €7.00. If you would just like to buy a one day/event membership you can avail of this for €7.00 but please remember this will expire 2 days after the event.
Seeds
The seeds will be based on the current SBI rankings before COV-19 put a halt to the season. The TD for this Championship in Tralee SC will be Tom O Driscoll.
Closing Date
The closing date for the Championship will be the Friday before the tournament 1pm. The draw will be done through the new on line system which makes the draw automatically on the web site.
