Michelle Sherwin won the Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association first RIBSA Ladies ranking event on Sunday the 29th of September in the Newbridge CYMS.
After the round-robin phase Michelle Sherwin and Leah Brady finished in 1st and 2nd place to face each other in the final. Michelle won the first frame convincingly. Leah settled and played much better in the 2nd frame; and Leah was unfortunate towards the end of the frame to commit a 6 pt foul and leave Michelle an easy last red which she took with the blue, then cleared to the blue to win the frame.
The 3rd frame was also really close, with Leah playing some incredible safety and potting some excellent balls. Michelle was pushed all throughout the frame, and had to rely on her years of experience to finally win the frame and match.
Player of the day was definitely Leah Brady, she put in an amazing performance. Heather Cullen also showed some promising form off the back of her runner up spot in the final of the intermediates last season.
RIBSA would like to thank the lady Players, Newbridge CYMS for hosting the event, Jim Carrick for all his assistance on the day and TD Referee Neil Shanahan for making it a big success on the day.
