Three RIBSA Under 16 Juniors Jack Newman, Lewis Casserly and Leone Crowley remain in the 2019 IBSF Under 16 World Snooker Championships here in Tyumen, Russia after a dramatic day’s play in the last 24.
When the Knock Out draw was announced earlier today, it threw up an all Irish battle when team mates Ryan McGuirk and Jack Newman were drawn against each other.
The match went all the way after Jack won the opening two frames only to see Ryan fight back to level and force a decider. In the decider Ryan built up a lead only to see jack come back to win it on the Pink and move into the last 16 tomorrow against Indian Ranveer Duggal.
Leone Crowley was also involved in a roller-coaster of a match against Russia but the 2019 National U-16 Champion survived with a 3-2 win to move into the last 16 tomorrow morning against Englishman Michael Robert Joyce.
The youngest player in Russia was 12year old Ronan McGuirk who did fantastic to qualify after winning his final two matches yesterday to get into the knock outs but today he was beaten by a top-class Egyptian player Mina Awad 0-3.
Lewis Casserly showed great experience in winning 3 frames to nil also against Russia to reach the last 16 and go one round further after reaching the last 32 last year. He will now face Polish Champion and Number 2 seed Antoni Kowalski
All three boys are fully focused on playing their best snooker tomorrow at 6am Irish time and each player is getting valuable experience in their development. They are playing with pride and confidence and everyone will be cheering them on in Russia and all across Ireland.
Good Luck Boys !!!!
