Paddy Brady representing Maynooth SC won the first ever Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association National Challenge Snooker Championships on Sunday the 4th of August in the Ivy Rooms SC in Carlow.
In the final Paddy who is originally from Sligo beat Oliver Martyn from Galway 3 frames to 1 in an excellent final which was refereed by International Referee Neil Shanahan.
In the first Semi-Final Oliver Martyn from Galway beat Jay Chopra from Cork 3 frames to 2 and Paddy Brady from Sligo beat James Higgins from Galway 3 frames to nil in the other semi-final.
The Challenge events ONLY features players who have never represented RIBSA at any age or gender over 16yrs old. RIBSA were delighted with standard on show in this new event on the calendar and after this weekends event RIBSA are sure it will only grow and grow and big another success for Irish Snooker.
RIBSA would like to congratulate Paddy on becoming the National Champion and all the Players who entered the event, Neil Shanahan for being the Referee and TD, Ivy Rooms SC for hosting the event.
- New Challenge Tour planned for 2019-2020 Season
RIBSA are planning to hold a full tour this season to give the opportunity to all the club players all around Ireland who dream of winning a RIBSA Title. RIBSA believe this new Challenge events will be a big success in a stepping stone to help grow the game around the clubs
- Open to all RIBSA members who have never represented RIBSA in any International event over 16yrs in any category or gender.
- Any former National Champion in any level over 16yrs or any WPBSA member are excluded for the Challenge Tour.
- Four National events plus a Grand Final plus National Championship will be held each season.
- All Challenge tour events are 1 day events following the Intermediate events in the same club.

Enter your name now by texting the RIBSA Number on 085 2428701 before the closing date of Friday 2nd of August at 1pm. The Draw will then appear on the ribsa web site with match times.
Entry Fees
- €10.00 for over 21 yrs old
- €10.00 for Under 21’s
- €1.00 for Under 16’s
All matches will be the best of 5 frames including the final. The event will be an open draw with no seeds and action will begin at 10am each morning.
