The annual Pat O’ Sullivan memorial billiards event took place on Sunday 5th May at the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow with Hollywood veteran Aidan Murray winning the event for the third year in succession.
With only six players that entered, it was decided to be playing on a round robin system with two groups of 3 players with both finalists decided by topping their groups. John Kehoe won his group with wins over Lloyd Myers and Brendan Devlin. Aidan Murray winning his with wins over Joe Doheny and Tommy Denieffe.
In the final Aidan was giving John 119 points start but quickly wiped out the margin and never looked back even though John stayed in the game and never gave up but Aidan scored heavily at will all day and secured the Pat O’ Sullivan trophy once more on a scoreline of 400-315.
The late Pat’s brother Noel was present to present the trophy and thanked everyone for taking part and keeping the memory of Pat alive. Thanks as always to Brendan Devlin as Tournament Director and Ivy Rooms Snooker Club for hosting the event and sponsoring the new trophy in memory of Pat.
