Ross Bulman from Youghal CYMS won the final of the third RIBSA / EBSA Under 18 Snooker Ranking event of the season beating Aaron Hill from Crucible SC in Cork 3 frames to 2. The final was postponed yesterday due to the bad weather and the final will be played this morning.
This event was held in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club, Carlow on Saturday the 15th of December. At the start of the morning RIBSA Chairman Jim Leacy had a meeting with all the players and parents about how to encourage more juniors to enter the National RIBSA events and good feedback was received.
In the tournament Ross Bulman was in great form in making three centuries breaks and the final featured two of the best juniors in the world and it was a great match with Ross winning it 3-2.
Semi Finals
In the semi final Aaron beat Ryan McGuirk from R&R SC 3-2 while Ross Bulman beat Jack Newman from Fermoy SC 3 frames to nil in the other semi final.
High Breaks
The high break was 117 by Ross Bulman. Ross had the two centuries in his Q-Final match 117 and 116 beating Luke Bateman and 100 break in his semi final. National Coach PJ Nolan was the TD on the Day and he was delighted with the quality of snooker on the day.

The following RIBSA players have now qualified for the 2019 EBSA U-18 Championships in February. Each player must confirm their place before Friday 21st of December @ 1pm otherwise next player on rankings will be asked.

Halnon Wins Plate Event
The Plate event today was between Adam Halnon from Gorey and Cian Murtagh from Classic SC in Dublin. Both players played well in the final but in the end it was the Wexford man who won the tournament. The final was refereed by Conor Doyle.
In the Semi Finals Adam beat Lewis Casserly 2-1 while Cian beat his teammate Cian Reid 2-1.
RIBSA Full Qualification System for 2019 EBSA U-18 Championships
The Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association have announced qualification for the 2019 EBSA European Under 18 and Under 21 Championships which will be held in Israel in 2019.
RIBSA will hold three International EBSA Ranking tournaments. These events are open to all the underage players and if any player loses their first match on the day they can play in a plate event on the same day.
- Format
The EBSA International events will be the best of 5 frames including the final and the Plate event will be the best of 3 frames including the final.
- Entry Details
You must text your entry to RIBSA on 085 2428701. This is a text number only and you must include your name, club and name of the event you wish to enter
- Closing Dates
The closing date for entries will be the Friday before each event @1pm and the draw will be then published on the ribsa web site at 3pm.
- Entry Fee
The entry fee will be €10.00 plus Reg. This can be paid on the day. Trophies will be awarded to the plate winner and runner up of the three events and a prize fund will be awarded for the International events.
- Tournament Director
This structure will be organised by our National Coach PJ Nolan who will be the Tournament Director. This Qualification will run from September to December to qualify players for the EBSA Championships in Israel in early 2019.
- All juniors can qualify
All juniors have an extra chance to qualify for the EBSA events through the Senior Rankings as RIBSA will give the highest ranked junior on the senior ranking a qualifying spot at the closing date.
This is to encourage more juniors to compete in our senior events.
