Sixteen year old Aaron Hill from the Crucible SC in Cork won the Second RIBSA Senior Snooker Ranking event of the season ” The Hickson’s Centra Open” on Sunday the 28th of October in the Celbridge Snooker Club in Celbridge, County Kildare.
In the final the young talented Corkman beat the experienced and former professional player Joe Delaney from Dublin in the final 4 frames to 3 to claim his maiden senior title in style.

In the Semi Finals Joe Delaney beat Ryan Cronin from Crucible SC while Aaron beat former professional and current National Champion Michael Judge from Q Club Wicklow 4-1 in the other semi-final.
High Breaks
Philip Browne had the highest break with a superb 130 Break, Other centuries were Rodney Goggins 126, Ryan Cronin 124, Michael Judge 112 and 107, Ross Bulman 113 and Jason Devaney 102.
Aaron came close at the World U-16’s in Russia last month but this weekend he beat en route to the title, Paul Griifin 3-0, Dane Daly 3-1, Brendan O Donoghue 3-2, Stephen Bateman 3-0 and Michael Judge 4-1 before beating Joe Delaney in the final 4-3.
Aaron said ‘’ I am stuck for words… after losing out for a world U-16 title just 2 weeks ago by a narrow frame I’ve just bounced back by winning my first Irish senior ranking event!! I’m absolutely buzzing and want to thank my sponsor Tomas Singleton my coach PJ Nolan and most off all my family and friends for all the support yere a great bunch’’!

Senior Ranking Tournaments Information
The Closing date for entries for Event 2 in Celbridge will be the 25th of October at 1pm and the Tournament Director will be Tony Thorpe
All RIBSA Senior Ranking Tournaments will he held on Saturday & Sunday as per Calendar of Events.

You can now text your entry to RIBSA on 085 2428701. This is a text number only and you must include your name, club and name of event you wish to play in.
Entry Fees
The Cost of entry for all Senior Tournaments this season will be €30.00 for 21yrs and over. Players under 21 on 31st December 2017 will be classed as Junior – Entry fee for Juniors will be €15.00
Entry for under 16’s will be free, however all no shows including free entries will be required to pay either Senior or Junior entry fee as appropriate before playing in future tournaments. All players must be members of RIBSA to play in any tournament. Ladies will be allowed free entry to all Senior, Masters, Intermediate and under age events..
RIBSA registration fees are 21 and over – €15.00, 16-20 yrs old – €10.00 and Under 16 – €5.00 This must be paid on the day of your first event.
One Day Membership
‘Following representation from Club owners RIBSA have decided to introduced one day / one event membership fee. The cost of this membership is €5.00 and is only valid for the duration of each particular event. It is hoped that this will encourage more participation in RIBSA Events ”
Entry Info
The 2018 – 2019 RIBSA Senior Snooker Ranking Series will feature 6 Ranking events and the National Snooker Championships this season. These rankings will be used to select the senior International players.
Tournament Prize Fund
Players are asked to note that the prize fund for tournaments in 2018/19 season will depend on number of entries less tournament expenses. Prize fund and expenses will be announced on the day at each event. Expenses will include payment of Tournament Director, Referees and payment of €2 per player to host club.
Closing Dates
The closing date for senior tournaments will be 1pm on the Thursday before the start of competition, without exception. The draw for each tournament will be available on the website www.ribsa.ie, as soon as possible.
Players must be properly dressed for all RIBSA competitions. The dress code is dark shoes, dark one coloured trousers (no jeans), one coloured shirt buttoned at the wrist and waistcoat. Waistcoats must be worn for all matches. National Waistcoats are not permissible.
