The Official Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Ladies Association held their National Championships on Sunday the 8th of April in Q’s Snooker Club in Dublin. Eamon Kearns was the TD on the day.
Everyone played on a round robin basis with the top 2 qualifying for the senior final and the next two players qualifying for the intermediate final.
Ronda Sheldreck got off to a great start by drawing 1-1 with last year’s runner up Claire Mill. Claire won the rest of her frames and Ronda went in to her final match against Leah Brady needing to win 2-0 to force a playoff frame against Claire to make the final.
Michelle Sherwin was the first to book her place in the final, having won all of her frames in the round robin phase. Leah Brady won her match against Ronda Sheldreck to finish third in the overall points on the day and book her place in the intermediate Final; this result also put Ronda into the intermediate final. Tanya O’Neill also played well on the day, narrowly missing out on winning some vital frames.
