The first ever all Donegal Final was played at the third RIBSA U-18 qualification ranking event for the 2018 IBSF World Under 18 Championships on Saturday the 7th of April in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow.
In the final Ronan Whyte beat his club mate Sean Devenney 3 frames to nil to take the title.
Donegal men Sean Devenney and Ronan Whyte from the North West Snooker Club in Letterkenny competed against each other for the title after both players had excellent wins in their semi-finals when Ronan beat Ross Bulman from Youghal CYMS 3-2 and Sean beat Aaron Hill from Crucible SC 3-2.

In frame 1: Ronan started off with a superb 50 Break to go 1-up, Ronan then won a tight second frame to go 2 nil up. In frame 3 Ronan again got in early to win the frame and match 3 frames to 0 for a superb victory for the young man from Donegal.

National Coach PJ Nolan was TD on the day while Ger Murray was the RIBSA Referee in charge. RIBSA would like to thank all the players, Officials and the Ivy Rooms SC for hosting another successful day of Irish Junior Snooker.

The next event for the U-18’s is on April 21st when RIBSA will hold their National U-18 Championships in the Ivy Rooms SC in Carlow.

You can now text your entry for U-18 Championships to RIBSA on 085 2428701. This is a text number only and you must include your name, club and name of the event you wish to enter
Closing Dates
The closing date for entries will be the Friday before each event @1pm and the draw will be then published on the ribsa web site at 3pm.
Entry Fees
The entry fee will be €10.00 plus Reg. This can be paid on the day. Trophies will be awarded to the plate winner and runner up of the three events and a prize fund will be awarded for the International events.
Plate Event
RIBSA hold Plate events at all the RIBSA underage Ranking tournaments. These events are open to any player who loses their first match on the day.
Ryan McGuirk Wins Plate Event
In the plate event it was Aaron Smith from Potters Drogheda SC up against Ryan McGuirk from the R & R SC in the best of 3 frame final. This event was very successful on the day but it was young Elite Squad member Ryan McGuirk who won the final 2 frames to 0 in an excellent match.
