The Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association launched the RIBSA Junior Elite Squad at the start of the season for Ross Bulman from Youghal, Aaron Hill from Cork, Noel Gleeson from Nenagh, Ryan McGuirk from Meath and Patrick Daly from Killarney to receive a RIBSA snooker scholarship to play in all RIBSA events free of charge for the 2017-2018 season.
Part of the scholarship was a free 4hr session for all the five players with our RIBSA National Coach PJ Nolan in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow and today 14 year Noel Gleeson availed of his session with PJ.
Noel is part of a famous family with his brother Mark also an International player. Noel won the National under 12 Championship in 2016 and this season he is No.2 in the Under 14’s rankings after winning event 1.
PJ worked with Noel on three important areas of his game, Technique, Mental and Scoring. Noel was superb in all three areas of the new program. He is very focused on his goals for the season with the Nationals and Celtic Challenge team as his main goals. .
Part of the session today was to help improve his Technique, Break Building and Safety game plus advice on the mental side of the game in how to peak for events. Noel received a new Elite Squad Training plan and this booklet contains all his routines with a diary to fill in after each training session.
RIBSA hope the players in the RIBSA Elite Squad will get the confidence to improve and reach the next level within their games and Noel thanked PJ and RIBSA for the session today.
