Ross Bulman from Youghal CYMS won the second RIBSA qualification ranking event of the season for the 2018 IBSF World Under 18 Championships on Saturday the 17th of February in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow.
- The Final
The top four seeds dominated this event on the day and in the final it was Number 1 seed Ross Bulman from Youghal CYMS who played Number 2 seed Sean Devenney from Northwest SC in a great match with the Munster man coming out a 3 frames to 1 winner to take the title and stay number 1 in the rankings.
- Semi Finals
In the Semi Finals Ross Bulman from Youghal CYMS beat Aaron Hill from Crucible SC in a great match 3 frames to 2 while Sean Devenney from Northwest SC played Mark Gleeson from Nenagh in another good game with the Northwest man coming out a 3-1 winner.
- High Break
There was a number of high breaks on the day with Aaron Hill making the highest with a 84, Aaron also had 51, 68, 52, 50, 52 while Ross Bulman had 82 and 52.

This season RIBSA are holding three International Ranking tournaments plus a National Championships to qualify players for the World U-18’s. These events are open to all the underage players and if any player loses their first match on the day they can play in a plate event on the same day.

- Number 1 on Under 18 International Rankings
- Highest U-18 on Senior Rankings – at end of season
- Additional players from U-18 Rankings if extra players needed
- Event 3
The next ranking event will be played on the 7th of April in the Ivy Rooms and the Closing Date for entries is the 6th of April at 1pm.
Murtagh Wins Under 18 Plate Event No.2
Cian Murtagh from the Classic SC in Dublin beat his team mate Daniel Somers in the plate final 2 frames to nil. In the semi finals Cian beat another club mate Jack Sheridan while Daniel Somers beat Keith O Reilly in the other semi final.
RIBSA congratulate Cian on his victory and to all the players on taking part on the day. See you at event 3.
- 2017-2018 under 18 Format
The ranking events will be the best of 5 frames including the final and the Plate event will be the best of 3 frames including the final.
- Closing Dates
The closing date for entries will be the Friday before each event @1pm and the draw will be then published on the ribsa web site at 3pm.
- Entry Fee
The entry fee will be €10.00 plus Reg. This can be paid on the day. Trophies will be awarded to the plate winner and runner up of the three events. The three prize funds from the ranking events will be divided up for the players playing at the World Championships.
- Tournament Director
This new structure will be organised by our National Coach PJ Nolan who will be the Tournament Director at all U-18 events. Qualification will run from January to May to qualify players for the IBSF Championships which will be held in July.

All juniors can qualify
All juniors have a chance to qualify for the IBSF Championships with this new system and players can also qualify through the Senior Rankings as RIBSA will give the highest ranked junior on the senior ranking a qualifying spot for the Championship
This is to encourage more juniors to compete in the senior events.
