The third round of the Irish Under 18 International and Open Snooker series was held in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club, Carlow on Saturday the 16th of December. National Coach PJ Nolan was the TD on the day and the standard of snooker was superb on the day.
- Four Irish stars qualify for EBSA – Bulgaria
It was the final round of EBSA group matches in the International Tour.today. Ross Bulman from Youghal CYMS won the qualifying event with a total of 34 frames out of 36. Aaron Hill was in second with 32 frames with Ronan Whyte in third with 26 frames and Mark Gleeson in fourth with 25 frames.
The highest break in the qualifying event was 97 by Aaron Hill. Ross Bulman, Aaron Hill, Ronan Whyte and Mark Gleeson now qualify to represent the Republic of Ireland in the European Under 18 Championships in Bulgaria in February.

McGuirk Wins U-18 Open
In the final Under 18 Open Snooker event of the season, it was 11 year old Leone Crowley from Shooters SC and 13 year Ryan McGuirk from R & R who reached the open final with fantastic snooker.
In the final
RIBSA Elite Squad player Ryan McGuirk got off to a great start winning the opening frame. Ryan controlled the second frame to lead 2-0 to go one away from claiming the title. In the next Ryan again went ahead with good potting and he was not to be denied his victory with a blue, pink black.
This was great promotion of junior snooker to have two such young talented players in the final. Well done Boys !!
- Semi Finals
In the semi-finals Leone beat Keith O Reilly Newbridge CYMS 3 frames to nil with Ryan beating 12 year old Aaron Smith from Potters SC in the other semi-final 3-1.
- High Break
Ryan McGuirk had the highest break on the day with a 56 break.
