Our National Coach PJ Nolan held his first of two planned IBSF Snooker Training Camps on Sunday the 29th of October. The RIBSA camps are to help prepare the players for the 2017 IBSF World Billiards & Snooker Championship which will be held in Qatar from the 17th – 27th of November.
RIBSA will send seven players to compete for the Republic of Ireland in Qatar with the senior players Brendan O Donoghue, Ross Bulman and Karl Fitzpatrick. The Master Players will be John Farrell, Brian McPhee and Anthony Bonnar. The Billiard Player will be Aidan Murray.
- Camp 1
In attendance today was Karl Fitzpatrick and Brian McPhee and PJ guided the players on various training routines to improve their Cueing, Break Building, Long Potting and Safety plus he will worked on their playing techniques.
Both players received a training program and a mind booklet to help them prepare for the Championship in Qatar. The cost was €5.00 per player to cover lights and training was from 11am – 4pm. Brian and Karl said they enjoyed the training day and said they got great advice from PJ which will help them prepare for Qatar.
- Elite Squad
The RIBSA junior Elite Squad players were also invited to attend to play and watch our International player practice. 13 year old Ryan McGuirk attended today and got valuable match-play practice with Brian and Karl along with one to one coaching from PJ. This is to encourage and give our best young juniors an opportunity to practice with our top Internationals at camps.
- Camp 2
The final camp is planned for Sunday the 5th of November in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow from 11am – 4pm with PJ. All the players going to Qatar are invited plus our RIBSA elite squad players to this training camp.
