Michael Judge from the Q Club in Wicklow won the first RIBSA Senior Ranking Tournament of the season ‘’ The Barracks Classic ‘’ in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow over the weekend.
In the final he beat young Stephen Bateman from the Kilkenny Shed who had a unbelievable event in reaching his first RIBSA senior final with wins Dessie Sheehan, Brain McPhee, Robert Murphy, Davy Morris and Brendan O’Donohue along the way and this shows how much young talent is out there.
Michael himself had outstanding wins over Gerry Kinneen, Ross Bulman, Pete Donegan and Joe Delaney in the semi-final to set up the event 1 final.

The final was a close affair with Stephen leading 2-1 with some outstanding snooker but it was the experienced former professional player Judge who came out the winner 4 frames to 2 and go to the top of the senior rankings.
The reward for 19 year old Bateman for reaching the final is being ranked No.1 junior on the senior rankings which would earn him a place after three senior events have been played for the European U-21 Championships in Croatia in February.
The late start of the final and live streaming is something RIBSA will discuss over the next week but overall it was a great tournament and RIBSA were delighted to welcome back many regular faces and two former professionals in Davy Morris and Joe Delaney in a field of 62 entries over the weekend.
The Highest break was won by Davy Morris from the Kilkenny Shed with his 124 break in his Q Final.
RIBSA would like to thank all the players for playing and making it a great start to the season. The Ivy Rooms for hosting the event, the Referees and TD and we look forward to welcoming you for Event 2 on the 21st of October.
