Michelle got the new season off to a good start by winning the first tournament. The final was a high quality affair with both Michelle and Paula Judge both playing well. Paula won the first frame with a good clearance, but Michelle soon equalised and went on to take the third frame on the pink. In the fourth frame, Michelle pocketed the brown and went in off. Paula needed the 4 colours to tie the match, but having potted brown and blue she did not have a nice angle to track the black. She potted the pink and knocked the black safe. After a couple of safety shots each on the black, it was Michelle who potted the black to secure a 3-1 victory.
I have to say I was impressed with the long potting displayed by both finalists and by Claire Mill and Rhonda Sheldreck throughout the day, you need to concentrate a bit more on the easy pots, don’t take them for granted. They need as much concentration as the more difficult ones.
My thanks to Qs for the use of the tables and to all the girls for an enjoyable sporting afternoon. Looking forward to seeing you all in Celbridge on October 8th.
