The Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association (RIBSA) have just announced details of their 2017 RIBSA Junior Elite Squad.
Ross Bulman from Youghal, Aaron Hill from Cork, Noel Gleeson from Nenagh, Ryan McGuirk from Cavan and Patrick Daly from Killarney will receive a snooker scholarship to play in all RIBSA events free of charge next season. RIBSA National Coach and Development Officer PJ Nolan will be in charge of the squad.
Trials for Elite Squad
Trials for the Elite squad were held at the RIBSA Development days plus the players were monitored at the RIBSA Junior Ranking Events last season. Key ingredients PJ was looking for was Age, Talent, Attitude, Performance, Potential, Commitment, Learning Skills, Improvement, Work Rate, Confidence and their Junior Ranking.
The Josh Boileau Story
Ireland’s newest Snooker Professional player and 2016 European U-21 Champion Josh Boileau who himself was part of the RIBSA Elite Squad in 2009 and 2010 said ‘’ being part of the RIBSA Elite squad helped me improve my game by playing in all the events and learning from the World’s Best Snooker Coach.‘’
The RIBSA Elite Squad will be launched at the first RIBSA Junior U-18 Event of the season in September.
