Day 3 was the first day of the knock out matches in the 2017 World IBSF Under 18 Snooker Championships here in Beijing China. Noel Landers qualified with two good wins from his three match and he faced one of the tournament favourites Xuan Tu from China tonight in the last 24.
First frame his 17 year old Chinese opponent had two breaks 45 and 44 to win the first frame. The young Irishman responded with a superb 87 break to level at 1-1 only to see Xuan Tu make breaks 77 and 67 to win the match 3-1 and advance into the last 16 tomorrow.
12 Asians, 4 Europeans remain in the event and our Irish players did well in the event. They represented our country with pride so well done Noel, Darragh and Ronan.
The world U-21’s start on the 12th and finish on the 16th with Shane Bates and Aaron Holland along with Noel Landers, Darragh Cusack and Ronan Whyte flying the flag for the Republic of Ireland.
