Stephen Bateman from the Kilkenny Shed won the second RIBSA / IBSF U-21 Snooker Ranking event of the season in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club, Carlow on Sunday the 19th of February. In the final Stephen beat Ross Bulman from Youghal CYMS 3 frames to 1 in a superb match.
Stephen now qualifies for the World IBSF Under 21 Championship in China in August.
In the semi finals Stephen Bateman beat Ronan Whyte from Northwest SC 3 – 1 while Ross Bulman beat Aaron Holland from Dublin 3-0. The Tournament high break went to Aaron Tobin with a superb 87 Break.
Our National Coach PJ Nolan was the Tournament Director and all the matches were the best of 5 frames including the final. The Referee was Paddy Hanifin and RIBSA would like to thank all the players and the Ivy Rooms for hosting another great junior ranking event.
It promises to be an exciting season of U-21 Snooker with the winner of each of the three Events plus the National U-21 Champion receiving a place at the World under 21 Championship in China. All eyes will be on Event 3 on the 2nd of April and the National Championships on the 22nd of April for the remaining places.

Format for 2016/2017
The entry fee is €10.00. Registration Fee U-21 €10.00 and U-16’s €5.00 – Proof of age required.
Three RIBSA ranking events plus National Championship will be held with each winner receiving a ticket to the World U-21 Championships.
Please note : The closing date for all RIBSA Under Age Tournaments will be 1pm on the Friday before the tournament. Waistcoats are required for all events however National waistcoats are not permitted.
Play will begin at 10am and the Draw will be on the RIBSA Web Site @ 3pm on the 17th of February.
