Adam Fitzgerald from Youghal CYMS won the first RIBSA U-21 Snooker Ranking event of the season in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club, Carlow on Sunday the 11th of September. In the final Adam beat his team mate Noel Landers from Youghal CYMS 3 frames to 0 in a superb match. The high break was won with a 77 break by Charlie Sweeney.
Adam now receives a place at the European U-21 Championship in Cyprus in March 2017. He will now attend training at the next two ranking events with PJ to prepare for the 2016 European Championship while the others will focus on event 2 on the 2nd of October.
Our National Coach PJ Nolan was the Tournament Director and all the matches were the best of 5 frames. To support the European Week of Sport the Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association (RIBSA) decided to offer free entry into this U-21 RIBSA tournament.
PRIZE FUND
This event had 17 entries and the prize fund was €85.00 for the winner, €34.00 for the Runner Up, €17.00 for each Semi Finalist and €17.00 for the High Break.

Format for 2016/2017
The entry fee is €10.00. Registration Fee U-21 €10.00 and U-16’s €5.00 – Proof of age required.
Three RIBSA ranking events will be held before December with each winner receiving a ticket to the European U-21 Championships. They will be joined by the highest ranked player on the U-21 rankings.
Please note : The closing date for all RIBSA Under Age Tournaments will be 1pm on the Friday before the tournament. Waistcoats are required for all events however National waistcoats are not permitted.
Play will begin at 10am and the Draw will be on the RIBSA Web Site @ 3pm on the 9th of September.
