The Irish junior excelled again on Day 3 in the World IBSF U-21 Snooker Championship here in Mol in Belgium. Adam Fitzgerald had a fantastic win against Thailand National U-21 Champion Narongdat Takantong 4 frames to 3 to stay unbeaten and win his group
Noel Landers won both his matches with a 4-1 win over Sparsh Pherwani from India and 4-2 over Dennis Furrer from Switzerland to also win his group.
Shane Bates finished in second place in the group with a comfortable 4-0 win over Aditya Bhalla from India. Aaron Holland played an inform Joe O Connor from England and lost 0-4 and he needs to beat Asutosh Padhy from India to qualify.
Fergal Quinn had his best win yesterday in his opening match when he beat highly rated Sybren Sokolowski from Belgium 4-3 but he was beaten late last night by Man Hoi Leong from Hong Kong 0-4. Fergal plays his last match in the morning against Germany.
John Landers played his best snooker to lose 3-4 to hot prospect Ben Mertens from Belgium and the young Youghal man should be very proud of his results here this week. John is fully focused on his last match against Bulgaria today.
Charlie Sweeney put on a great display to beat Michał Kotiuk from Poland making breaks of 72, 82 and 91 and he goes into his last match assured of qualification for the knock outs.
The players are now awaiting the knock draw later today and the overall performance has been superb from each player and as National Coach I am very proud of them all.
