Michael Judge, Brendan O Donoghue were both beaten this morning in the last 16 round of EBSA European Men’s Snooker Championships here in Wroclaw Poland.
Michael was beaten 5 frames to 4 by Rhydian Richards from Wales. Judge found himself 2-0 down but the ex pro fought back with a new tournament high break with a 133 total clearance to go 1-2 down.
Michael then made 59 but his Welsh opponent won the frame to lead 3-1 at the interval. Judge fought back again to win frame 5 to go 2-3 down with a 91 break but again his opponent won the next to go 2-4 up. Back came the Irishman to level at 4-4. In the decider Judge went 38 down but fought back and a tricky brown decided the match as Rhydian potted brown to pink to win.
Brendan played ex pro Jak Jones and the first two frames his welsh opponent controlled the match. Brendan then won the next two frames with a top break of 97 to level at the interval. Jones then went 2-4 up only to see the Nenagh man win the seventh frames to close the gap to 3-4. His opponent controlled the next frame to seal the win 5-3.
Well Done
A big well done to all the Irish players of Brendan O’ Donoghue, Josh Boileau, Ryan Cronin, Jason Devaney and Michael Judge who gave it everything in this year’s European Men’s Championships.
I am so proud of your commitment and passion playing for your country and nobody could have gave more. Fantastic new high break by Michael today so we could still win the high break trophy.
Well done Team Ireland
