Michael Judge and Brendan O Donoghue are the only two remaining Irish players flying the flag in the EBSA European Men’s Snooker Championships here in Wroclaw Poland.
The experienced duo will play welsh opponents in the last 16 tomorrow when Michael will play Rhydian Richards while Brendan will play Jak Jones in the best of 9 frame shoot out at 10am local time.
Brendan O Donoghue had beaten Jack Bradford from Wales 4-1 in the last 64 while Josh Boileau beat Patryk Masłowski from Poland 4-0 with breaks of 90 and 98. Michael Judge beat Paweł Rogoza from Poland 4 -1 with high breaks of 94 and 98.
In the last 32 Brendan beat Josh 4 frames to 1 in an all Irish battle while Michael beat Andreas Ploner from Austria 4 frames to 1 with top breaks of 53 and 88.
Jason Devaney started off the day in the last 64 with a solid 4 frames to nil victory over Lee Mein from Scotland but he was beaten in a thrilling decider 4 frames to 3 by Alex Borg from Malta. Jason should be very proud of himself this week.
In the last 64 Ryan Cronin played a great match to beat Jarosław Kowalski from Poland 4 frames to nil but he then lost after midnight to former professional player Alexander Ursenbacher from Switzerland 4 frames to nil. Ryan performance of toping his group and reaching the last 64 was a superb performance for his first senior major event.
