The Ivy Rooms Carlow played host to The first day of the 2015 Leinster Club Championship with play getting underway this morning Sat 12 Dec at 10am with 13 teams in 4 groups. First to qualify for Q-finals were Newbridge CYMS “A” in Group C winning both their group matches 3 – 0. Also through to the q-finals from this group are Potters Drogheda “C”. Josh Boileau from Newbridge Led the way with breaks of 74,79and 96.
Group “D” proved to be very tight with 3 teams finishing on equal points necessitating a 3-way play-off Sunday morning to decide their group positions. After drawing lots 147 Wexford will play a 5×1 frame match v. Potters Drogheda “B”, the winner will play a 5×1 frame match v. Celbridge to decide 1st and 2nd place in the group.
Group “A” contained the no1 seeds Kilkenny Shed who won the group with wins over both Ivy Rooms and Potters Drogheda “D”. Ivy Rooms took 2nd place with a 3 – 0 win v. Potters “D”.
Last group to finish was “B” where Potters Drogheda “A” came out on top defeating both NUI Maynooth and Newbridge CYMS “C”. NUI Maynooth had a good 3 – 0 win over Newbridge giving them a place in Sundays q-finals. Andrew Doherty from NUI Maynooth impressed with a break of 70 in his second match.
