Day 6 was the start of the knock out rounds in the Men’s Championships here in Hurghada, Egypt at the 2015 IBSF World Amateur Snooker Championships.
Only cork men Greg Casey and David Cassidy were in action as Rodney Goggins was seeded directly into the last 64.
Unfortunately David Cassidy was beaten by Antti Tolvanen from Finland 4 frames to 3. The young Irish man led 3-1 only to see his opponent knock in three 50+ breaks to steal the victory. David gained a lot of experience here at his first men’s world championships.
Greg Casey found himself 2-1 against Mostafa Gebely from Egypt but he managed to find his form to record a 4 frames to 2 victory. Greg now faces No. 10 seed Tetsuya Kuwata from Japan while No.13 seed Rodney Goggins will play Adrian Ridley from Australia. Both matches will be played on Wednesday.
Master players Alan Matic and Tom O Driscoll will be in action on Thursday in the Masters event. Alen who is seeded No.12 will play the winner of the match involving Ian Sargeant from Wales or Mustafa Alnemer from Egypt while Tom will play Johny Moermans from Belgium.
